Video Editing - Get Good Audio
There are basicaly 2 different types of mics dynamic and condenser which can record in a Unidirectional or Omnidirectional way.
Tip! Condenser mics are more sensitive than dynamic mics making them a better choice for video editing. When you get one make sure you also get a pre-amp with phantom power. They often need extra power that is supplied by most pre-amps.
Unidirectional Microphones
Unidirectional Microphones pic up sounds that are directed to them. End with a flat mesh.
If your speaking in a mic then it hears this but other noises are often missed such as a car passing by or dog barking. These type's of microphones are good for recording single instruments or in karaoke.
Omni directional Microphones
Omni directional Microphones pic up all the sounds that are around you. The end of Omni directional Mics are usually rounded.
For instance speaking into the mic you may also pic up the sounds of a car going by or a dog barking. Omni directional microphone are often used with groups of singers or instrumentalists to pic up the entire sounds of teh band.
