Film Lighting

Not enough light and your picture will look barely visible with poor color. Too much lighting and shadows or white out can occur. Learning to use lights to light up your picture or to shoot in good light conditions will help improve your shot tremendously.

lighting film moviesMake sure you have good lighting. A good way to tell is to simply look at your digital video cameras display. If there are dark spots then they are probably going to look bad on larger screen too.

You need to light up every part of an object or subject being filmed. Dark areas will result in shadows that blur the quality of the image and make what you are filming not so clear.

Too much light causes shadows. Masters of light effects can provide light to every area of whatever is being filmed without causing a single shadow. They do this by bouncing light of screens or using screens to absorb some of the power while shedding light on a situation.

You can tell a lot about how a picture will look when you look very closely and sensibly at the video cameras LCD display. Look with extreme detail at the LCD on your video camera for insight.
