What long does it take to record my video to my computer?
When you start recording just record small clips so that your computer does not get bogged down. Larger files are harder to work woth for both you and your computer. With newer computers it is easier to hadle and store high quality videos but older ones may leave you waiting.
How Much Space Does My Computer Need For Video Editing?
Digital video uses up a lot of space. In older MiniDV video cameras the picture was 720 by 480 or something similar. If you record an hour it will use up 10gb. That's huge. If you change the brightness and contrast of color a little your software may keep the original and save the new version. That's 20gb. Ouch! Better have a lot of hard drive space if you want to continue on this video editing journey.
What can I do to prevent my computer running out of storage space?
Many video editors have to change the type of video to a format that's not as big. This can be done by simply going to your software after you have recorded something on your computer and choosing save as. Quite often this will give you many options to compress your video to a smaller format.
You can also buy more hard drive space. You can do this with a external or internal hard drive for relitivey cheap. If your serious you want to so that everyting can always be backed up. There is nothing worse that loosing videos that hours have been spent on editing. An loosing what cannot be replaced.

What long does it take to record my video to my computer?
In miniDV digital video cameras the recording is done in real time. This means tehre is no fast way to suddenly transport it to your comouter. It is on a digital tape and you must play the footage at the actual speed when it is recording to your computer. 1 hour of footage takes 1 hour to record in these older recording devices such as magnetic tape.
